Yeah so, welcome after a long time, eh?

Something you’d like to know first off, Gamespy has a piece about Valve giving out Half Life 2 status. Go click, and read.

Back? Right, then, how’re you? Playing games, I hope. You really should, you know. Play Games I mean. There is no better time than NOW to be in the thick of the games industry. Althought the PC gaming scene(except for a few sporadic titles) seems quite bleak these days, dunnit? Talking of which there is a fascinating article over at Joe User about the PC gaming market and why developers/publishers are more responsible for it’s decline than piracy. The author talks about the pains that are CD checks, patches and CD keys. He sites these reasons as the main factor in the decline of the market and his solution is simple. PC Games need to deliver the goods to compete! Why is the console market beating out the PC market? Uh console games work, they are easy to “install”/play and you never have to patch them.

But there ARE some good games to look forward to, right? Well id has released some benchmarks for Doom III with the latest video cards on the market from NVIDIA & ATI. HardOCP has published the five page article which should help anyone trying to decide if they should upgrade their video card for DOOM 3. There’s also an introductory note from John Carmack, mentioning: ‘The benchmarking was conducted on-site, and the hardware vendors did not have access to the demo before hand, so we are confident that there is no egregious cheating going on.’, and the HardOCP writers comment: ‘As of this afternoon we were playing DOOM 3 on a 1.5GHz Pentium 4 box with a GeForce 4 MX440 video card and having a surprisingly good gaming experience.’

So anyone going to see Spider-man 2 this weekend? I know I am. Pity they waon’t have the new Halo 2 theatrical trailer playing here. But you can always get it from MSN. :)
