HD DVD for Xbox 360 to arrive by holiday season
With both Sony and Nintendo announcing the launch details on their upcoming gaming consoles, Microsoft has announced their plans to counter this growing competition.
The software giants would be launching the HD DVD player add-on for their Xbox 360 gaming console by the upcoming holiday season.
Microsoft would also have 10 million of its next-generation consoles to market before both Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii arrives in the market. The launch period for competing consoles gives the company a complete year to take the advantage of being the first one out in the market with the new console.
The company added that they would have on sale as many as 160 titles for Xbox 360 for the holidays. Considering gaming content is the primary factor for the success of a gaming console, this would give them a huge boost later this year.
Peter Moore, head of Microsoft’s game business added that Grand Theft Auto 4 would also be available for this platform by October this year.
Overall, a great year for the video gaming industry.
