Nintendo and Opera collaborates for browser for Nintendo Wii
Opera is an awesome browser and the company which develops it consists of some brilliant people. Nintendo realizes this fact and we now have the results. The two companies are collaborating together to develop a web browser for the upcoming Nintendo Wii gaming platform.
Opera has already worked with Nintendo for their Nintendo DS handheld gaming console and license its browser for this platform.
Nintendo Wii owners would be able to surf the web using this browser. Genyo Takeda, senior managing director and general manager of the Integrated Research and Development Division at Nintendo said in a statement on this development: “For our Wii console launch in 2006, we required a browser that was fast and secure with support for the latest standards including AJAX.”
He added: “Opera proved perfect for our purposes and is an exceptional addition to both the Nintendo DS and the Wii console.”
Opera for Nintendo DS is scheduled for launch in Japan this summer.
