Sony Playstation 3 might see a dull launch with few gaming titles

Videogame developers are skeptical that the launch of the Sony Playstation 3 gaming console later this year might be dull considering the company hasn’t given final technical details of the new console.

This might result in fewer games available for the console at the launch time. This is one of the worst things to happen for a gaming console and Xbox 360 had similar problems during its launch especially in the Japanese market.

THQ Inc. has said that they still didn’t have enough information to make a version of a game on The Sopranos series for the PS3. And most of the initial games might fail to take complete advantage of the newly developed Cell processor used in the Sony Playstation 3.

Sega of America President Simon Jeffrey said in a statement: “A lot of developers have not gotten the kits. There certainly will not be a lot of titles available.”

Sony Playstation 3 is due to go on sale in Japan and North American market in the middle of the November later this year and would cost comprehensively more than Microsoft Xbox 360. however, it would sport the next generation Blu-Ray drive which the company hopes would lure more customers to get the console to use it as an entertainment console.
