Sony PlayStation 3 to cost £425 in the UK
Sony has finally revealed the pricing of their upcoming gaming console Playstation 3 for the UK market. The console would cost a massive £425 in this market.
This would be a little bit more expensive than what it would cost in the rest of the European markets. There are doubts that the company might not even launch the 20GB version of the console in UK. This console is going to be priced at £339 in the rest of the Europe.
Sony believes that the pricing of this console is still a bargain considering the Blu-Ray format based standalone players would be probably more expensive in the market. All Sony Playstation 3 consoles would ship with an integrated Blu-Ray drive.
The company would be taking on Microsoft’s existing Xbox 360 gaming console, which arrived in the market late last year. Nintendo is also due to launch their innovative Nintendo Wii at around the same time though no pricing has been released.
Ray Maguire, Sony’s UK managing director said in a statement on the pricing of the Sony Playstation 3: “The point is that most people don’t realize what they’re actually getting with a PlayStation 3. It’s a games machine and we all know that, but it’s also a high-definition video playback device through Blu-ray, and a lot of people don’t really understand that part of the functionality.”
