Nintendo gives more details on Wii pricing and launch date

Nintendo is continuing to reveal more details about their upcoming gaming console Nintendo Wii, which would take on rival products Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3.

The company has confirmed that the Wii would be cheaper than both these competing gaming consoles and have said that the price will not exceed USD 250 in the US market.

It would be priced below 25,000 yen in the home market of Japan. They are aiming at selling as many as six million machines by March 2007.

Sony Playstation 3 is scheduled for launch sometime later this year while Microsoft has already launched their next generation console Xbox 360.

Sony has priced their Playstation 3 console at USD 499 and USD 599 for two different versions for the US market. This is considerably higher than the price of Xbox 360.
