So Doom III is finally out. It still going to be at least a 10 days till it hits India, and at least a month before I get my system ready to play the behemoth. Reviews are slowly and steadily making their way. After the world exclusive on PC Gamer, now CGW, Telefragged, Gamers Hell, PGNX Media, and VIA Gamers Arena have reviewed and rated Doom III. Its faring exremelt well with scores averaging at 95%.
The legit copy of Doom III will hit India on Independence Day, and it’ll be priced at 1499. I know cos I asked my dealer. Get ready.
People say its a damn scary experience and the game is a rip roaring blast. I wonder if all of it is PR? I mean, I know the engine here is bigger than the game, and you and I have both seen screenies of the skeleton with jetpacks baddie and the upside down head on spider legs baddy. They suck. But have the inscrutable people at id once again made a pure game?
A game that is fun, thrilling and a rewarding experience? Everything else be damned? For the sake of PC gaming future, I’d like to believe so. It remains to be actually seen, buit the reviews are damn encouraging.
Of course the arms race between id and Epic is the fuel for the arms race between AMD and Intel, ATI and nVidia, and all these damn arms races are directly responsible for the arms racve between us freinds and fellow gamers. Of course, I am losing in such a bad way I’m almost France. So far ATI is the chosen card for Doom III, but it plays equally well on nVidias. So if you have a spanking new 256MB gfx card, a 3.5 or 4 Ghz processor and 1 GB of RAM, please do send me high quality screenshots. :)
