Market analysts: Sony Playstation 3 might not dominate the market
Sony might make us believe that their upcoming Playstation 3 is not just a gaming console. They even compare it to a personal computer. However, the fact remains, the consumer would look at it as an update for the current Sony Playstation 2 gaming console, which has dominated the market for so many years and is still doing good.
The pricing of the PS3 has put so much pressure on Sony that they might falter with this upcoming console. It is more expensive than any other competitor in the market and the games for PS3 are expected to be expensive too.
And now market analysts have said that they are expecting this console to be troublesome for the company. Analyst P.J. McNealy of the American Technology Researchers said in a report: “”This is now the most complex box that’s ever been built in this industry. It’s going to have a Cell processor; it’s going to have a Blu-ray drive. The number of pieces that are going into this box are even more astounding.”
He added: “While Sony has certain manufacturing advantages at the end of the day, this is a very complex process, and they’re going to be limited to the yields that they can come up with.”
