Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros is the top selling videogame in the USA
Few people expect Nintendo to dominate the market with competitors in the form of Microsoft and Sony. However, they have just done that. Nintendo of America’s “New Super Mario Bros” was the top selling videogame in the US market for the month of June.
New Super Mario Bros topped the sales chart for the second month in a row with sales of as many as 453,000 units. The figures were revealed by the market research firm NPD Group.
This game is for the hugely popular Nintendo DS/DS Lite handheld gaming console which itself is a best seller in the market.
Taking the second spot was Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.’s “Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories”. This game is for the Sony’s Playstation 2 gaming console. It sold around 400,000 units in June.
Nintendo has another game in the top three with “Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day” for the DS taking the third spot.
Cars for the PS2 was fourth on the sales chart.
