Nintendo reports improved profits as DS Lite sales are impressive

Nintendo is one of the dominating players in the handheld gaming console market and their recently launched DS Lite has been a smash hit.

The company has said in their revenue reports that its first-quarter profit rose 10 percent. The net income for the company was up to 15.6 billion yen in the quarter that ended on June 30.

Nintendo also managed to increase its annual profit forecast to 83 billion yen, from a previous estimate of 65 billion yen as they continue to gain from sales of their DS Lite console.

The company competes against Sony in the handheld gaming console market. Sony has their Playstation Portable device available in the market. Microsoft itself is rumored to be considering entering this market with a portable Xbox gaming console through it’s not confirmed until now.

Nintendo is also due to come out with their Wii gaming console sometime later this month. It should further boost the sales for the company and enhance their revenues in the coming quarters considering unlike Microsoft and Sony, they are not going to lose much on sales of each of this new console.
