Age of Empires III coming to Apple Mac
Destineer’s MacSoft has confirmed that they would soon be launching the Mac version of Age of Empires III.
They expect to ship this game to retail markets by the end of September this year.
Age of Empires III is the sequel in the popular AoE series and happens to be their second best selling titles.
Users are put in control of one of eight European powers exploring, colonizing and conquering the New World. Market analysts had said that a Mac version of this release was a complicated one considering it was based on Havok engine, which is not available on the Macintosh platform.
However, the developers are now using Ageia’s PhysX physics engine for developing the Mac port of this popular real-time strategy game.
MacSoft has some good news for the Apple Mac owners, as they would be releasing the game as a universal binary, which would let the users run the game at its best on both the older and newer generation Mac computers.
