Nintendo Wii: Expected pricing for the European markets

The head of Nintendo’s German operations Bernd Fakesch has said that they expect to price their upcoming Wii gaming console below 250 euros in the European market.

The company has already said that they expect to price the Wii console at around 25000 yen in the Japanese market. The US price is expected to be lower than USD 250. No definite pricing structure has been revealed by the company.

Bernd Fakesch said in a statement giving some hints on the possible pricing of the Nintendo Wii gaming console: “The price has not been decided yet, but I expect it to be … less than 250 euros.”

Nintendo is due to launch the Wii gaming console in the markets around the world sometime later this year.

It would take on the existing Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console and the upcoming Sony Playstation 3 gaming console.

Nintendo is expecting to sell 4 million units of Wii globally by the end of the year. The longer-term target is to sell 6 million units by the end of March 2007.
