Sony picking up a stake in Gamepot
Sony’s Sony Communication Network Corp. has announced its decision to acquire a 27 percent stake in Gamepot Inc.
Gamepot Inc. is the operators of a popular online golf game and this deal would cost the company around $22 million.
This deal would help Sony beef up its online game operations. The online gaming market in Japan is expanding fast and Sony wants to remain a major player in this industry.
They are already operating So-net Internet service and now they would buy 8,200 new shares of Gamepot in a third-party allocation. In addition, they would be buying 15,000 existing Gamepot shares from Aeria Inc.
