Games for Windows branding revealed by Microsoft
Software giants Microsoft are promoting Vista as a Videogaming platform and are instituting the new ‘Games for Windows’ branding and packaging.
The company said that videogame publishers will only be permitted to use the ‘Games for Windows’ branding after their release has met a set of technical guidelines.
These guidelines would be related to easier game installation, improved reliability and support for key Windows Vista features such as the Games Explorer and Parental Controls.
In addition, the games sporting the ‘Games for Windows’ branding will support wide-screen gaming. And they could be launched from within Windows Media Center. They would also be compatible with 64-bit consumer versions of Windows and support the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.
As per incoming information, ‘Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy’ from LucasArts and the Windows exclusive, ‘Company of Heroes’ from THQ will be the first two titles to carry the new branding.
