MTV Networks to acquire Harmonix Music Systems

Viacom’s MTV Networks has said that they are going to acquire Harmonix Music Systems.

Harmonix Music Systems are developers of music-related video games and this deal is worth around USD 175 million.

One of the popular titles from the company is Guitar Hero for the Sony Playstation 2 platform.

Viacom has already acquired Atom Entertainment and Xfire in similar deals in the recent months.

The company aims to expand on their online services to keep their subscriber base, which might flock to competing services offered by rivals like MySpace.com and others.
