Hilary Duff & Her Dog, Lola, to Appear in EA’s The Sims 2™ Pets

October 5th Sneak Peak of The Sims 2™ Pets Video Game; U.S. Release Date Slated for October 17th

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–International superstar, Hilary Duff, has taken on a starring role in the most popular video game brand of all time! On October 17, 2006, Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS) will release The Sims 2™ Pets video game, featuring Duff and her pet Chihuahua, Lola. But on Thursday, October 5th, EA offers a SNEAK PEAK of the new game!

Duff is a typical Sims fan — in fact, slightly more than 50% of Sims players are female and the ages range from young to old. The Sims is known for its broad fan base that spans generations and crosses gender lines. Hilary and Lola will appear in different scenes on each of the platforms the game will be released on — the Sony PS2, the Nintendo GameCube, the Nintendo DS handheld game system, and the PC (as an expansion pack to the original PC game, The Sims 2.)

Hilary is a fan of the Sims and has played it in the past. She thinks that the popularity of The Sims among women is that the game is what you make it — you can do anything you want, from creating and controlling characters, to building and decorating a house or creating elaborate storylines — even acting out the relationships you have in your real life!

Players can step into the shoes of one of Hollywood’s hottest young stars: They interact with Lola and Hilary as they can with any other pet or Sim. Hilary is also a fully playable character in the game, meaning players can customize and control Hilary as they do other Sims, from changing her clothes, makeup and hairstyle, to building and decorating her home.

The Sims 2™ Pets will feature the man’s best friends in a variety of situations, adding yet another new dimension to the ever-expanding world of The Sims. A dog gnawing at his chew toy or a cat jumping at a dangled feather. Kids and teens can learn about the responsibility of pet ownership through The Sims 2™ Pets. As in real life, Sims pets will require care and training.
