Video game sales improves in September

The month of September saw impressive sales improvement in the videogame market. NPD Group said in a statement that the sales jumped by a whopping 38 percent compared with the year-ago period.

The industry is up 11 percent and it is still seeing a massive growth. The total videogame sales in September were around $777 million compared to sales of $563 million in September of last year.

The hardware sales itself was up 71 percent to $244 million from last year’s $143 million. Nintendo DS handheld console was the main reason with sales of more than 400,000 units in the period.

In terms of dollar sales, the last month was the best month of September ever for the industry.

And with Sony and Nintendo due to launch their next generation gaming consoles PS3 and Wii next month, we should see some impressive results in the months to come.
