Nintendo DS Lite gets MP3 playing capability

Japanese videogame console maker Nintendo has now added MP3 playing capabilities to their DS Lite handheld gaming device.

However, this update would cost the users around £20. This is disappointing considering DS’s primary rival in the market Sony Playstation Portable comes with this functionality as standard feature.

There are more issues. Users can add the MP3 files to an SD card using a PC. However, they would be required to purchase a card reader and SD memory card separately.

The Sony PSP device on the other hand connects to a computer using USB. However, the user would still be required to purchase a memory card.

This update would be available to European customers of Nintendo starting from December 8.
