eBay saw sales of around 15000 Playstation 3 units in the first week of launch
Online ecommerce giant eBay has released some figures showcasing how many Playstation 3 units were sold on their website.
The company reported that they saw sales of 14,675 PS3 units. The average price of the PS3 sold through eBay was around $1,200. The two versions of PS3 sell for USD 499 and USD 599 in the retail market.
In comparison, the Nintendo’s Wii gaming console sold for an average price of $412. Wii sells for a retail price of USD 250 in the market.
Wii is quite cheap compared to PS3 and was more widely available during the first few days of launch. Sony failed to supply enough units and thus the reselling price was relatively much higher for the PS3 on eBay.
