Sony Playstation 3 shipments to USA crosses 1 million units
Japanese consumer electronics maker Sony has said that they have now shipped more than 1 million units of the Playstation 3 gaming console to the US market.
However, this figure is still nowhere near the company’s expectations of shipping two million units last year. Sony has not disclosed their shipments for other markets.
Sony further said that they sold 197,000 PS3s on launch day. This itself was less than half of what they had aimed for initially.
The company faced problems with the slower manufacturing process which delayed shipments to the market in time for launch. Consumers continued to report that they found it hard to find a unit of the PS3 gaming console in the market.
Nintendo itself had aimed at selling around 4 million units by the end of 2006.
