Enterbrain claims Nintendo Wii outsold Sony Playstation 3 in Japan
Video game magazine publisher Enterbrain has said in a report that Sony sold around 466,716 units of their recently launched Sony Playstation 3 gaming console by the end of December.
If this is true, the company managed to achieve just half of their target for the time period. Interestingly, they also trailed the Nintendo Wii in terms of sales.
The magazine claimed that Nintendo in comparison sold 989,118 Wii units. This is when they had launched the Wii console in Japan three weeks later than the PS3.
Sony recently said that they met its own set target of shipping 1 million PS3 units to North America since its launch there. Looks like they diverted the units originally meant for Japan disappointing the fans in their own home market.
The company has also said that they are on track to ship 6 million PS3 consoles worldwide by the end of March 2007. It would be interesting to see how many Nintendo would have sold by then.
