Wii News Channel to feature news from The Associated Press

Nintendo has announced that they are collaborating with The Associated Press for their Wii News Channel. This channel would be made available to the owners of their Nintendo Wii gaming console.

Nintendo is scheduled to launch the Wii News Channel tomorrow. It would feature news stories accompanied with related images from the news source.

Owners of the Wii gaming console would however require an internet connection and the Wii Opera Browser to access this customized service.

This news channel service is being offered as a free service for all Wii owners.

AP would be providing news information in several languages depending upon the targeted markets. Nintendo said that the Japanese Wii owners would get information from another news source.

Perrin Kaplan, vice president for marketing at Nintendo spoke about this feature: “The beauty of it is it zooms in and out of areas of the world. So if you really want to focus on regional news or national news versus international, you just blow up the map of the U.S.”
