Sony Playstation 3 to arrive in Europe on March 23
Japanese videogame console maker Sony has announced that they would launch their Sony Playstation 3 gaming console in the European markets on March 23.
The console would sell for a price of Euro 599. This comes to around USD 840 which is much higher than the price charged in the US market.
Sony is just launching the higher end model in the European market which comes equipped with the 60GB hard disk. The Playstation 3 is also available with a 20GB hard disk in the US market.
A company spokesperson spoke about this development: “We will focus on the launch of the one with a 60-GB drive, and have no plan now to introduce the 20-GB model.”
Sony aims to launch the console in Europe with stocks of around 1 million units. Market analysts however expect the market to see a shortage in the market at launch time.
