Nintendo gains from Wii sales
Japanese videogaming company Nintendo has come out with their revenue reports and the company has posted a 43 percent rise in profits for the nine months ended December.
Nintendo gained from the sales of their recently launched Wii gaming console which they claim is profitable from day one.
The company also manufactures GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS handheld machines. Nintendo posted net profit of 131.9 billion yen in the first nine months of the fiscal year. This is up from figures of 92.2 billion yen the same period a year earlier.
Nintendo did not reveal the quarterly figures though.
Their Wii gaming console is taking on the Sony Playstation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console in the market.
Nintendo further claimed that they achieved their target of 4 million units shipped by the end of 2006. They have manufactured the claimed number of consoles and these are still being distributed in the market.
