Media Create: Playstation 2 to continue to dominate Playstation 3

Sony might have failed to impress the gamers with their recently launched Playstation 3 gaming console. But they still have a formidable gaming machine in the form of Playstation 2.

The Sony PS2 console is still selling in huge numbers. The market analyst Media Create has claimed in a statement that the Playstation 2 gaming console is likely to outsell Playstation 3 for the next two years.

Media Create said in its report that PlayStation 2 beat its bigger sister PlayStation 3, on Sony’s traditional playground: Japan. This can be a big problem for Sony as they have invested a lot in the development of the PS3 console.

The report further puts doubt on the Blu-Ray format which Sony claimed is a good enough reason to go for Playstation 3 gaming console.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America Senior VP of Marketing, Peter Dille spoke about the Playstation 2 gaming console: “Month in, month out, the PlayStation 2 continues to outsell Xbox 360. I think you see the consumers voting with their wallets on the PlayStation brand.”
