HUDSON ENTERTAINMENT and KONAMI ANNOUNCE HONEYCOMB BEAT, AN ADDICTIVE NEW PUZZLE GAME FOR NINTENDO DS™
Music-Enhanced Puzzle Game Delivers Unique Brain Teasing Gameplay to Energize Your Mind
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – February 2, 2007 – Hudson Entertainment and Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced Honeycomb Beat, a puzzle game exclusively for the Nintendo DS™. Combining hypnotic music with brain teasing challenges that everyone can enjoy, Honeycomb Beat features intuitive touch screen puzzle action across three modes of play that lets gamers try to clear hexagonal Honeycombs from the game board.
Designed to challenge the brain, Honeycomb Beat requires players to use the Nintendo DS stylus to manipulate Honeycombs. Touching a Honeycomb, which is white on one side and colored on the other, changes both its color and that of all the adjacent panels. Using this intuitive mechanic, the player must meet certain level-based objectives, such as creating specific shapes or turning the entire game board a certain color.
Honeycomb Beat features more than 200 unique puzzles for players to solve across the game’s Puzzle and Evolution modes. In Puzzle Mode, players must shift all the Honeycombs on the game board to create a specific shape. Players are given an unlimited amount of time to flex their brains and try to come up with the best solution for each level. Evolution Mode challenges players to make quick decisions to clear fast-rising lines of Honeycombs by turning each row one color. The action quickens as more lines are eliminated, so players must focus to keep from being overwhelmed by the rapidly rising Honeycombs. Evolution Mode tracks the player’s progress and assigns different values to their overall brain “Evolution Level,” from mitochondria to neo-human. Players can customize their game experience in each mode of play, choosing from a wide variety of Honeycomb colors, background images, music and visualizers that are unlocked by meeting specific gameplay goals.
Honeycomb Beat will launch for the Nintendo DS in Spring 2007.
