Sony Playstation 3 to have Home ‘virtual world’
Japanese consumer electronics maker Sony has revealed their plans to launch a virtual universe for the owners of their Sony Playstation 3 gaming console.
This virtual world has been named Home and the gamers would be able to socialize, shop and conduct other activities sitting at home.
Gamers would be able to create their own life-like virtual characters, or avatars and they would be able to socialize with other people whom they can label as friends.
They would be able to share pictures and videos, and play online games with their friends on this virtual world on the Playstation 3 gaming console.
Izumi Kawanishi, head of Sony’s software platform division spoke on this new development: “This is a significant step forward in the area of user community services and emergent entertainment experiences. I feel strongly that this unique blend of community, user-generated content, collaboration and commerce will expand the future of computer entertainment.”
Phil Harrison, Sony Computer Entertainment’s president of worldwide studios added: “We were confident that PS3 would be the platform to lead the way in creative gaming and LittleBigPlanet brings this concept to life spectacularly. We’ve created the space for PS3 owners to realize their creativity and craft their own unique gameplay experience.”
