Sony might delay PSP launch in Europe and Asia
Sometimes it hurts to be successful as Sony discovers that they cannot make enough units of their awesome gaming console PSP (Playstation Portable) to supply to all the future markets. They have already announced their plans to launch PSP in the America on March 24. However, lack of production might force them to delay the launch of PSP in the European and rest of the Asian market. Japanese fans had the privilege to get access to the PSP consoles from December 12.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. had initially planned to launch PSP in these markets from March itself. However, as spokesperson for the company Kenichi Fukunaga told the media: “But because demand for PSPs is surpassing production capacity, we are now reconsidering the timing of sales in Europe and Asia”, it just might be delayed.
Sony would be shipping around a million units in the American market for the proposed launch in March. This would give Sony a great beginning to compete with the existing king of gaming consoles Nintendo which is currently selling their DS consoles in huge numbers. Sony have the added advantage with their PSP as it supports video and audio through their UMD (Universal Media Disc) disc format which has the capacity of more than 1.5 gigs.
Fukunaga later told the media: “By summer, we will be able to manage to meet global demand as our production capacity will be raised to two million units a month”. This news would certainly disappoint all the Sony fans in the European and Asian markets who have been waiting for this launch since 2 months now.
Early bird users of Sony’s PSP would get additional treat from the electronic giant in the form of a UMD of the blockbuster movie Spiderman 2.

The present browser for Sony PSP is just too rudimentary to
be considered as easy and functional. Opera software Norway
already have Opera Mini for Mobiles which according to reviews
functions much better than PSP -and its only on a mobile phone !!
Sony needs to contact Opera and begin discussions for the Opera
browser to develop with PSP.
Further comments other than my own are at US Sony PSP
playstation site and Opera Community site under Opera
-for other devices Forum members have offered insight
particularly at the Opera site into technical details
that would make the PSP possible with Opera.
I trust Sony will read these forum comments and
hopefully contact Opera the best internet experience
browser people in Norway. http://www.opera.com
A better browser for PSP is possible ,I hope it can be Opera
as their committment to development and community involvement
is breathtaking. Come on Sony you can do it with a firmware
upgrade in 2006. Please……
