Sony provides a list of games compatible with European Playstation 3

Sony has now released a list of Playstation 2 games which would be compatible with the upcoming Playstation 3 console in the European market.

This comes after the major PR disaster for the company when they revealed that the European version of the PS3 would lack a chip responsible for backward compatibility.

This was done to reduce the cost of the console as the company is making huge losses on each unit sold in the market.

Sony said that the work done by the chip would now be processed by software emulation but it still does reduce the backward compatibility of the Playstation 3 console.

The list is available online at http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc. The company adds: “If your game is not listed here, emulation is not yet supported on PlayStation 3.”

Sony is making available 1 million Playstation 3 units at launch time in Europe. It is still expected to face shortage of consoles in the initial days.
