Artwerk: Electronic Arts and Nettwerk One Music to create their own music label

World’s largest publisher of videogames Electronic Arts has said that they are going to collaborate with Nettwerk One Music to setup a joint venture music label: Artwerk.

This new music label company would signup both established and new musicians for publishing and recording deals. They would also hunt for new talent on the web by setting up a website to invite user submissions.

They would provide both digital and regular music distribution services. Music would be sold through Apple’s popular iTunes store in addition to Rhapsody, eMusic and other services.

The two companies added that they would also try to get their music included on movies and television shows for more popularity. Of course, this music can also find a place in videogames.

The label has apparently already signed up their first artist Junkie XL. His tracks have already been featured in EA games including “Madden NFL 07″ and “Need for Speed: Carbon”.

Terry McBride, CEO of the Nettwerk One Music said on this collaboration: “It is time for the music industry to shake things up, break out new bands and find new ways to expose them on a global scale.”
