Sony reportedly sold 165,000 PS3 units in 2 days in UK
Market analysts Chart Track have claimed that the Japanese consumer electronics maker Sony has smashed the sales records by selling more than 165,000 Playstation 3 console units in 2 days.
The company has just launched the PS3 in the European markets and had reportedly shipped around a million units for the launch.
Sony Playstation 3 faces massive competition in the market in the form of Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.
The Xbox 360 has been available since a long time and the Nintendo Wii has become the people’s favorite console with its innovative gaming style.
Ray Maguire, managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK said in a statement on this feat: “Having broken the record for launch sales, we are now replenishing retail stock across the country.”
The company faced massive criticism from the press for their European launch after the company said that these machines would lack a chip (that was included in US and Japanese version) which is responsible for backward compatibility.
Sony is now going to provide support for PS and PS2 games using software emulation.
