Nintendo Wii dominated the videogame console market in March as well
Japanese videogame console maker Nintendo continued their domination in the market with their Wii console in the month of March as well.
The sales of videogames, consoles, and accessories rose 33 percent to $1.1 billion in March in the US and Wii was one of the major forces behind this growth.
Nintendo managed to sell around 259,000 units of Wii in the US last month. Microsoft was second with sales of 199,000 units of Xbox 360. Sony was placed third with sales of 130,000 units of their Playstation 3.
Sony however still managed to sell 280,000 units of their earlier generation Playstation 2 gaming console. Nintendo on the other hand also dominates the handheld market with sales of DS touching 508,000 units in March.
Market sources further claimed that the Sony’s “God of War II” for the PS2 topped the game charts with 833,000 units sold.
