Gameloft to make Shrek the Third mobile games
Videogame publisher Gameloft has confirmed that they have attained the rights to develop and distribute mobile games for the DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek the Third” movie.
They plan to launch the game across 170 operators in more than 75 countries in conjunction with the film’s May 18 release.
Activision on the other hand is responsible for developing and distributing games based on the movie for the regular gaming platforms including Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS.
Gameloft said that their games would be focused on the characters and environments from the third “Shrek” film. A company spokesperson added: “The action-adventure game allows you to play as Shrek or Dragon. The game play will be well-suited for our target audience since it is platform-style with various difficulty levels for the novice to the experienced gamer.”
Gameloft interestingly is also developing games based on the NBC freshman hit “Heroes”. This year alone, they have plans to release five Hollywood-licensed games.
