Sony showcases PlayStation Eye camera for PS3
Japanese videogame console maker Sony has showcased a new accessory product named PlayStation Eye camera for their Playstation 3 gaming console.
The company said that this product is set for release this summer and it would allow voice, video chat and online gaming features available via PlayStation 3.
The Playstation Eye would connect to the PS3 via the USB port and it also features a microphone that would let the gamers communicate with using a headset.
Sony claims that the device is fairly capable and would work well in low light conditions. It also features an impressive update rate of 120 frames per second.
They are also going to ship some software applications with the product to let gamers save and edit photos, video and audio.
Gamers would be able to capture video and audio clips and save them to the PS3 hard drive. David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe added on this new product designed for the PS3 console: “PlayStation Eye is a great example of how we have moved forward so significantly with our technology. PlayStation Eye has four times the resolution, twice the frame rate and double the sensitivity of its predecessor EyeToy USB Camera. With the technology that we now have at our disposal we will be able to dramatically improve the communications experience enjoyed on PS3.”
