Apple iPhone is soon going to get tons of new exciting games courtesy Electronic Arts.

EA Mobile has announced the games they would be launching on the iPod Touch – iPhone platform this year.

The games include: Tiger Woods PGA Tour, FIFA, Madden, NBA Live, Need for Speed and SSX Snowboarding along with Wolfenstein, Spore Creatures, Mystery Mania, American Idol, Command & Conquer, and The Sims 3.

Market analysts believe that iPhone could soon become a force to reckon with in the handheld gaming segment with these exciting games coming to this mobile platform.

This could put Apple in direct competition to Nintendo which dominates this segment with their Nintendo DS range of consoles.

Sony is also a major player here with their PlayStation Portable device.

World’s leading mobile phone maker Nokia has now said that they would not add gaming support to their popular smartphone model Nokia N73.

They had earlier said that this model would get the support for their recently launched gaming services.

Nokia said that they had to change their position due to limited processing power available in this model.

Nokia N73 has been a massively successful model for the company. Sources say that the company has sold around 20 million units of N73 worldwide.

Guitar Hero: World Tour mobile edition is soon coming to the mobile phones.

A version of the game is being developed for the Google Android platform.

It would soon be available for sale on the Google Android Market.

Owners of Google G1 mobile phone would be able to purchase this game on their devices.

The official announcement said that the gamers would be able to use the G1’s sensitive touch-screen to play along with 15 rock classics including Deep Purple’s ‘Smoke on the Water’, Guns’n'Roses’ ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Tetris, and Monopoly are some other games which are being developed for the Google Android mobile platform.

Sony Ericsson has launched a new gaming oriented mobile phone in the Indian market.

This new handset is the Sony Ericsson F305.

This phone has been priced at Rs. 8,995 and it comes loaded with motion sensor technology.

Sony Ericsson said in a statement at the launch event: “We would launch more gaming handsets as the number of gamers in the country is growing. The handset has three pre-loaded motion games along with 50 additional games and is equipped with a two-megapixel camera. We already have Walkman and Cybershot range for the music and imaging segment, respectively.”

The company is also aiming to launch their download service ‘PlayNow’ here in India.

Sony Ericsson is also collaborating with Zapak.com and Microsoft XBOX 360 to observe February 12 as the ‘World Gaming Day’.

Electronic Arts has announced the launch of their first few games for the Google Android platform.

Google Android is the latest mobile platform in the market and T-Mobile is offering the first model in the US market.

HTC G1 is currently the only Android powered mobile phone available in the market.

EA Mobile said that Tetris is available currently. They are planning to make available two more in the coming days.

Bejeweled and Monopoly Here & Now would go on sale next month.

EA is already offering games on the Apple iPod and iPhone platforms.

THQ has announced that they have now made available the mobile game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on devices available world over.

The game is now supported on the Apple iPhone, Nokia N-Gage, and more than 850 other mobile devices.

Apple iPhone owners can get the game through the Apple App Store.

The game features the CellWeaver mobile control system which has been developed by Universomo.

The full edition version of the game is also available on Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 2 and Sony Playstation 3 in addition to Sony Playstation Portable.

GestureTek has announced that they have signed on a deal with mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson.

With this, Sony Ericsson would now be able to use GestureTek’s motion-sensing software on their mobile products.

Market sources say that this could result in Sony Ericsson mobile phones to feature a new generation of motion sensitive games.

The games can use cameras on existing mobile phone products for this functionality. This would make them usable on existing products in the market.

Most motion sensing technologies use accelerometer which adds on to the cost of the product. Sony already uses the GestureTek’s software technology on their PS2 EyeToy.

These games are: Sims 2 Castaway, The Sims Pool, Monopoly Here and Now, Yahtzee Adventure and Merv Griffin’s Crossword.

The company had recently launched Sims Bowling gaming title for the Apple iPod. They are also the company behind several other games for the Apple’s popular media player.

THQ Wireless is collaborating with Team17 Software on a new mobile game title Worms 2008: A Space Oddity.

The company said that Worms 2008: A Space Oddity would be an entirely new game but would feature the same game play of the classic Worms game.

This new game would also feature 4 all-new mini-games, an enhanced single-player campaign mode, an all-new landscape view mode, and new loopy weapons.

It comes loaded with new animations and improved graphics. They are also adding an AI (Artificial Intelligence) system to improve the game play.
