Mickey Mouse is set to become a videogame hero as Disney has announced a game for the Nintendo Wii gaming console.

Mickey Mouse would feature in the Disney Epic Mickey game that would be launched sometime next year.

Videogame creator Warren Spector spoke about this game: “We’ve pulled Mickey out of the world of cartoons which is where he belongs and feels comfortable and safe and we pull him into a world we call the Cartoon Wasteland.”

Disney Interactive Studios general manager Graham Hopper had this to say on this new game: “This started from a belief that I had when I came into this business a few years back, that we were not treating Mickey properly in the videogames space and that he had a lot more potential than we had unlocked.”

Microsoft and Sony have finally managed to overcome the challenge posed by Nintendo and their Wii gaming console.

Nintendo has admitted that the sales of Wii are down massively.

Nintendo executive Satoru Iwata even admitted: “The Wii has stalled. Games of high demand could not be continuously released and the good mood has chilled.”

He further said that they are optimistic about a comeback with better games but it would be tough.

Iwata added: “The mood of the market got colder than expected, and there was a difference in expectations. Now, we are preparing for next year and thinking about what to do the year after next.”

This is great news for the fans of Excitebike.

The game is coming to Nintendo Wii next month.

It would be released on November 9.

The developers have improved some elements but it is essentially the same fun game it was.

Is Nintendo preparing to launch a black color Wii this holiday season?

We are not sure of that. But the company has announced that they would start selling black color accessories for this gaming console in the coming weeks.

Nintendo Wii Remote and MotionPlus along with nunchuks would soon have black color editions.

The remote would sell for USD 50 while the nunchuks would retail for USD 20.

Nintendo Wii has been a bestseller ever since it was launch.

It still continues to sell in large numbers despite no price cuts since the launch date.

Rumours in the market are suggesting that a price cut could be announced in the coming days.

The cut is likely to drop the price tag of the Wii in the US market to around USD 200.

However, the console suffers from one major problem… It is not powerful enough.

Nintendo knows it well and they must be working on fixing this ‘problem’.

Industry experts believe that the company could launch a HD edition of Wii in 2011.

It would be necessary to keep up with the rival consoles.

Both Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 are much powerful consoles compared to the Wii.

They are also likely to last for more years if we consider the processing power required by future videogames.

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada has suggested that Nintendo would have to make changes to the Wii to ensure its success in the coming years.

He said: “Present game machines already have a lot of functions: they are a network terminal, a Blu-ray or DVD player, and a gaming machine. Compared to these three pillars, the (new motion) controllers are quite limited, so the impact may be small.”

They have enough time in their hands.

Nintendo is the only current generation videogame console maker which has not dropped the price of their product since the launch.

Nintendo Wii remains the undisputed champion in terms of sales and it is still sold at the original price tag of USD 250.

This might soon change. The company is facing fresh competition in the form of much cheaper editions of both Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3.

Industry sources claim that Nintendo is closing in on announcing a price cut on the Wii console.

The cut is likely to be of USD 50 to bring the price down to around USD 199.

Nintendo continues to launch new accessories for their Wii gaming console.

The latest is the Wii Vitality Sensor. Satoru Iwata announced it at the E3 media event.

This device is essentially a pulse detector.

Nintendo did not announce any game or application that can currently use this new device.

The company did say that this accessory might be able to help people unwind or even get to sleep easily.

The device wraps around the gamers’ index finger.

It would be interesting to see how videogame companies develop games that can use this new accessory!

Nintendo had nothing to say on any new gaming console at their E3 media event.

However, the company did made news with the announcement of their first full sequel to a 3D Mario game.

Nintendo announced Super Mario Galaxy 2.

The game is not coming out this year. Nintendo revealed that they aim to launch the game sometime in 2010.

Nikkei business daily has reported that Nintendo is working on a new version of their popular game Wii Fit.

This new game is expected to be named Nintendo Wii Fit Plus.

This new version would be internet enabled and gamers would be able to play it with their friends and relatives.

The report added that Nintendo is also going to release a new Mario game later this year.

Nintendo has declined to comment on these latest reports in the market.

They are however expected to reveal more about their plans for the future at the upcoming E3 videogame trade show that starts on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Market sources claim that Nintendo has finally touched the important milestone of selling 50 million units of Wii in the global markets.

Wii has now become the fastest selling console ever released. It has sold faster than the Nintendo DS and it has been breaking records set by Sony Playstation 2.

However, Nintendo has been struggling to release new exciting games for this platform.

Let’s hope now that they have won the console war of this generation, we can look forward to some new exciting games as well.
