Blizzard has announced that they have developed an electronic token device named Blizzard Authenticator for the gamers of World of Warcraft to provide added security layer to prevent unauthorized account access.

This device provides a unique code which would be required to be put in while logging into the system.

This code would be required in addition to the username and password for authentication.

The company said that it would retail for $6.50 through Blizzard’s online store soon.

Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment said in a statement: “It’s important to us that World of Warcraft offers a safe and enjoyable game environment. One aspect of that is helping players avoid account compromise, so we’re pleased to make this additional layer of security available to them.”

Hollywood Reporter has reported that they have received insider information that Microsoft is planning to cut the price of their Xbox 360 Pro model.

This rumored price cut of USD 50 would bring down the price of the console to $299. This would make it more lucrative compared to Nintendo Wii gaming console which is the market leader.

The report stated that the price cut could be announced just before the start of the E3 show.

Media sources have already shown snapshots of marketing brochures showcasing the model priced at USD 299.

Microsoft has for now declined to comment on this report.

Donkey Kong Champ’s Mission for Top Honors Exemplifies Ambitions of SoCal Start-Ups

Twiistup, Southern California’s signature event connecting professionals from the worlds of technology, media and entertainment, announces beloved gamer Steve Wiebe is attending this summer’s event as he hopes to dominate the Donkey Kong video game at the Twiistup 4 arcade.

In 2007, Wiebe’s quest to take the world high score from then Donkey Kong champion Billy Mitchell was documented in the film ‘The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters’. This time, Wiebe will compete for the highest score of record at the Twiistup 4 arcade, giving attendees the chance to put their video game skills to the test as well as learn more about the ups and downs of Wiebe’s world record holder mission.

“We are ecstatic to welcome our guest of honor Steve Wiebe. His journey to conquer a seemingly impossible goal is an inspiration to us all,” said Twiistup Founder Mike Macadaan. “Many parallels can be drawn from his attitude, perseverance and heart to the start-ups that attend Twiistup. These individuals continue to tackle their challenges head-on as they aim to embark toward successful futures in an increasingly competitive environment.”

GirlGamer, a community, digital magazine and video game review Web site focused on serving the female gaming demographic, is sponsoring the arcade. GirlGamer provides a space for female gamers to contribute, interact and connect with each other.

Japanese videogame console maker Sony has announced that they would be releasing the next firmware update for their Playstation 3 gaming console on July 2.

This latest firmware would be the version 2.40. It is designed to provide enhanced online gaming functionality.

This update would allow access to XrossMediaBar from inside the games. Gamers would be able to check if their friends are online while playing the games.

This update is also likely to deliver the much wanted trophies to recognize players’ achievements in the online arena.

This latest firmware update would be free for all the owners of the Sony PS3 gaming console.

The game has been developed by the EA’s Digital Illusions studio.

Videogame Company Activision has launched their latest title Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

The game is targeted at the fans of Aerosmith band.

Activision launched the game at the Hard Rock restaurant in Times Square where the band was present to showcase the title.

This game comes loaded with 30 hits from the band including smash hits like “Love in an Elevator” and “Sweet Emotion”.

The game also comes with a special guitar controller featuring the band’s red-and-white logo.

It is available for all the new generation consoles in addition to Playstation 2.

Videogame Company Blizzard has confirmed the rumors about their upcoming gaming title Diablo III.

Company co-founder Mike Morhaime showed a short teaser of the game.

And the lead designer then went on to give the public a 20-minute demo of the game.

It is being developed for both PCs and Macs.

This would be the latest game in the series which last saw the launch of a game almost eight years ago.

The company said that Diablo III would feature a customized version of Havok physics. Blizzard has not revealed any release date or period for this much anticipated title.
